Terms of service
Last updated October 7, 2026
The service
TheIntern helps a service business keep its schedule, customers, crew and customer texts in one place, and drafts texts for the owner to review and send. We may change or improve features over time.
Accounts
- You must be at least 18 and able to agree to these terms for your business.
- Keep your sign-in secure. You're responsible for what happens in your account, including what your crew does with the access you give them.
- The owner of a business account controls its data and who on the crew can sign in.
Your data
You own the information you put into TheIntern. You give us permission to store and process it only to run the service for you, as described in our privacy policy. You're responsible for having the right to store your customers' information and to text them.
Texting rules
- Only text people who gave your business their number and expect to hear from you.
- No spam, no bought or rented lists, and nothing illegal, harassing or misleading.
- Honor opt-outs. On the business number, replies of STOP are handled automatically; see our SMS terms.
- We can suspend texting or an account that breaks these rules or carrier rules.
Plans and billing
- The free version has no charge and needs no card.
- The business-number plan needs a card on file, entered on Stripe's secure checkout page. Nothing is charged before your number goes live.
- Your first month is free, starting the day your number goes live (after carrier approval). After that the plan renews automatically each month, billed in advance through Stripe, until you cancel. Prices are shown on our pricing section and may change with at least 30 days' notice.
- If you cancel during the free month, we charge a one-time $25 setup fee to your card to cover carrier registration. If the carriers don't approve your business and your number never goes live, there's no fee.
- The free month is once per business. If you subscribe again after your number was released, billing starts right away and there's no setup fee.
- You can cancel anytime; a paid plan runs to the end of the paid month. We don't give refunds for partial months unless the law requires it.
- If you cancel, you go back to the free version and keep your data.
Acceptable use
Don't misuse the service: no attempts to break in, overload it, reverse engineer it, or use it to harm others. Don't use another business's account without permission.
Ending the agreement
You can stop using TheIntern and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or end an account that breaks these terms, after notice when we reasonably can.
Disclaimers and liability
TheIntern is provided “as is”. We work to keep it available and accurate, but we don't promise it will be uninterrupted or error-free, and you should check drafts, schedules and amounts before acting on them. To the extent the law allows, we aren't liable for indirect or consequential losses, and our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim (or $100 if you haven't paid us).
Law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, and disputes will be handled in its courts, unless the law where you live says otherwise.
Changes
We may update these terms. If a change is significant, we'll tell account holders before it takes effect. Using TheIntern after that means you accept the new terms.
